Home offices

The need for home offices has undoubtedly risen in recent years, primarily due to advancements in technology and changes in daily life following the pandemic, which in many cases have made commuting less necessary.

When designing a home office, thoughtful design is crucial for creating a space that feels both comfortable and stimulating. Since this is where you may spend a significant portion of your day, several factors should be considered.

Colour plays a significant role in the atmosphere of a space. While it’s often said that colours like red can evoke anger and blue and green can promote peace and serenity, it’s essential to choose a colour palette that is tailored to the individual’s preferences and what makes them feel great.

Next, consider the layout of your home office. Position the desk in an area with ample space around it to allow for movement. Be mindful of other furniture in the room to ensure it doesn’t encroach on your desk space. Explore clever storage solutions to minimise clutter, as this can help maintain focus by reducing distractions. In the photo below, we utilised a String desk that not only provides ample storage but can also be configured in various ways to suit the client's needs.

Pay particular attention to lighting in your home office. Good lighting enhances the atmosphere and helps prevent eye strain. If there are no windows or only very small ones, this becomes even more crucial. Additionally, ensure there are enough power outlets positioned conveniently.

Finally, I cannot overstate the importance of a comfortable desk chair. Choose one that offers proper support and is adjustable to the correct height for the client and in relation to the desk as this will have a significant impact on the client’s working day.

Thoughtful design will create a home office space that enhances productivity and promotes tranquility.
