This through living room was completely transformed to house the family's eclectic art collection, and to provide a welcoming space both for them to use as a family and for entertaining.
The flexible seating accommodates both small and large groups, with views of their art collection from every angle.
the brief
This couple had raised their children in this well-loved family home and were now ready to consider the next phase of their lives. They wanted to elevate their living space to show off the art they had acquired over the years, and indulge their love of colour and quirkiness. We worked closely together to choose furniture and fabrics that reflect their unique style.
THE WHY
The reception rooms in Victorian terraces are frequently knocked through, and an extension is put on the rear, which often leaves the back part of the room somewhat dark and without a clear identity. We worked to create a single flexible space for both relaxing and entertaining, ensuring that every part of the room had a purpose. Particular attention needed to be paid to lighting, to highlight artwork as well as creating the desired ambience.
THE OUTCOME
Discreetly lit bespoke display shelves show off two small statues which had been languishing in an upstairs cupboard, vibrant colours and textures throughout create a playful as well as sophisticated mood for relaxing and entertaining, and the room is now one cohesive space where family and friends can convene to relax, converse and admire the artwork.
