This spacious home creates the perfect setting for any occasion. The grand garden space is begging for a social gathering or a relaxing summers day. This client has collected many treasured items in her life along her travels, and therefore it was crucial that these were displayed proudly.

Zimbabwe holds particular importance, resulting in an African influence throughout. Numerous bespoke elements were produced for this project, to ensure that each unique piece of decor had it's own place. Everything within this home has been meticulously considered and placed with care.

the brief

To have the whole of the common on your doorstep is one of the huge advantages of this house, whose garden backs onto a huge park. A modern structure which had been extended to provide plenty of living space, the owner had recently moved after owning period properties for many years. We needed to create a space for her that was both familiar and completely new, building on the best of what she brought with her to make the best of her new abode.

THE WHY

Our client had moved from an older house, and had also acquired many decorative objects from a lifetime of travelling; here we had an opportunity to create the perfect environment for her to live and entertain, as well as display her treasures to their best advantage. We worked with pieces that were precious to her and built more modern elements around them, blending the two worlds perfectly.

THE OUTCOME

Indoor-outdoor living at its best — the large kitchen/dining area opens fully onto a carefully sculpted garden for warm-weather living, and the colder months are perfectly catered for in a cozy living room with a fireplace and colourful upholstery. A flamboyant wallpaper in the hallway gives cause to pause in what is otherwise a walk-through space, and upstairs soft colours and fabrics create the perfect restful atmosphere.
